If you’re a fan of those giant tubs of pretzels or love filling up your tank at some of the cheapest petrol prices in town, here’s some exciting news: Costco might be opening a brand-new store in the southwest Las Vegas Valley! Yep, one more chance to stock up on bulk buys and grab a $1.50 hot dog while you’re at it.
What’s Happening With The New Costco?
So far, plans for this new location are moving forward. Back in September 2023, the Board of County Commissioners approved a land use application for a massive 23-acre plot. This isn’t just any retail building, either—it’s set to include a gasoline station, which will likely be another big draw for shoppers in the area.
The next step? On February 5, 2025, the Clark County Commissioners are opening up the floor for public comment on the project. This means locals will get the chance to voice their thoughts—good or bad—about having another Costco in their neighbourhood.
Why This Store Could Be A Big Deal
If approved, this would mark Costco’s sixth store in the Valley. For a city growing as quickly as Las Vegas, having another location just makes sense. People living in the southwest won’t have to drive as far to stock up on essentials (and by “essentials,” we obviously mean 5kg bags of chocolate chips).
Southwest Las Vegas is an area that’s been booming with new housing developments and businesses, so adding a Costco to the mix could be a game-changer for the community. Not to mention, these stores don’t just bring convenience—they often create local jobs too.
What Happens Next?
While the wheels are definitely turning, it’s not a done deal just yet. If you’re curious—or maybe even have strong feelings about Costco traffic—you can attend the public meeting in February to share your opinion. Once the commissioners weigh in, we’ll know whether this project gets the green light.
For now, all we can do is wait (and maybe dream about grabbing those famous Costco muffins a little closer to home). What’s your go-to Costco item?
