When you’re a big deal like Adele, you get a few famous people in the audience at your shows but even she wasn’t expecting this. Over the weekend Céline Dion joined Adele’s Weekends With Adele show at the Colosseum in Vegas and it was a very emotional night on and off stage.
When two legends meet: friendship and love
During “When We Were Young” Adele spotted Céline Dion in the VIP box and was clearly surprised. She couldn’t hold back and ran over to give her friend a hug. The fans were moved by the emotional reunion as the two singers shared a few quiet words and held each other’s faces. Céline was even wiping her eyes, it was that special.
Céline’s public appearance is a big deal. She’s been out of the spotlight for a while as she’s been dealing with health issues. She was recently diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological condition and although it hasn’t kept her entirely away she hasn’t been seen much. Her surprise appearance with Adele is one for the books, everyone’s talking about it.
Céline Tribute
Back on stage Adele thanked the audience for the applause and told them to give it up for “one of my favourite people of all time”. And the audience went wild. You could feel the love for Céline from everyone in the Colosseum. The fact that Céline’s 14 year old son was there with her made it even more special as he was comforting his mum during the emotional reunion.
This isn’t the first time these two Grammy winners have met either. They’ve had some amazing moments over the years like when Céline presented Adele with the Song of the Year award at the Grammys in 2017. Adele has been a huge Céline fan for years and this surprise meet up proved how much that admiration is mutual.
Céline’s Back
Céline Dion’s health has been a big topic in the music world since she stopped performing regularly. But she made a big comeback during the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris this summer where she sang “Hymne A L’Amour” by Édith Piaf at the Eiffel Tower. That was her first big performance since 2020 and showed she still loves to perform despite her health issues. Seeing her back in a place like Caesars Palace where she spent 16 years had the fans feeling nostalgic.
For those in need of an emotional, celebrity-fuelled trip of your own, a concert at Caesars Palace might just be your best bet.
