More About Treasure Island Las Vegas

Treasure Island: An Innovative Classic

History

When you think of the iconic Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, you may immediately think of it’s former pirate-themed decor and the hourly show that enchanted passerbys for years. Almost 30 years later, the show and the nautical image are long gone, making way for a new and trendy place to stay when visiting the Las Vegas Strip. Created by MGM Resorts under the direction of Steve Wynn, it was later sold to Phil Ruffin, former owner of the New Frontier Hotel and Casino. joined the Raddison Hotel Group at the end of 2019.

With its long history of being on the Vegas Strip, this resort has been featured in many notable films and TV shows. In 2003, the sign was featured in Looney Tunes: Back in Action. In the Dodgeball movie, the character Steve the Pirate is seen being heckled to “Go back to the Treasure Island’ while walking down Fremont Street. The 2005 film Miss Congeniality 2 featured the Sirens of TI pirate show, and the hotel was also featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Located right next to Fashion Show Mall, the hotel sold its skull sign and overall nautical image to make way for the newly sophisticated remodel in 2003. The iconic pirate show was transformed into Sirens of TI, a sexy pirate extravaganza complete with bare-chested pirates and beautiful sirens. It is described by Treasure Island president Scott Sibella as a “sexy and beautiful, adult Broadway caliber show.” Yet, unfortunately in 2013 the Sirens of TI show that replaced the hourly pirate show closed its doors to make way for a multilevel shopping center that includes the Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. The iconic pirate ship still remains at the front entrance of the resort as a relic of what once was. But have no fear! Mystère, Gilley’s Saloon, and Señor Frog’s are located within the resort and are definitely worth checking out if you want a fun, entertaining night out.

The Resort

This resort is timeless and iconic, and has many rooms available for every budget and occasion. Newly renovated, this hotel has made drastic and stylish changes all the way up to June 2020 to create a more chic atmosphere compared to its initial opening in 1993. These renovations include brand new carpet, chairs, lamps with USB ports, bathroom lighting, artwork, wallpaper, paint and much more to ensure that your room is up-to-date.
